Digital access to the old and the rare: Bibliothèque Artistique

The small shoestring-budget team is trying to create digital access to their rare material as much as they possibly can as they continue the Herculean cataloguing task. They regularly utilise other organisations high quality digital collections.
Books that are already digitised by other projects (NYPL, Archive.org etc) are furnished with embedded links to that product in the Bibliothèque Artistique's catalogue.
Here is an entry for the title L'ornement des tissus : recueil historique et pratique , utilising the NYPL digital gallery under the "Uniform Resource Locator" tab:

All Bibliotheque Artistique titles with full entries on archive.org under the "Uniform Resource Locator" tab. I love how archive.org virtually flicks throughout the entire tome as you are checking out its bib details.

Titles not included in other institutional projects are photographed and presented in online albums using Jalbum, and Flickr.

The Jalbum digital projects are divided into albums on subject: painting, sculpture, architecture, drawing, fashion, prints/graphic arts, decorative arts.

dOCUMENTA Archive and Research Library

The dOCUMENTA Archiv is currently undertaking a massive digitisation project, and have converted to bytes all images from dOCUMENTA 1 through 5, and are currently tackling 6 (1977).
The job is not one for the lighthearted. The amount of data generated for and about these major events, held every five years, multiplies in each instance. Good luck, team.

Art Center College of Design: the online awesome

The library did not acquire additional budget for digital collection development- eresources funding is taken out of journal and monograph budgets.
And it looks like they have put that funding to good use- they have some great online resources.

There is a bunch of practical, user friendly touches to their public web interface, coupled well with whizz bang technologies.
Their twitter feed sits front and centre, with the recent post
"Happy Monday! How can the library help you this week?".
This tweet is nestled in with reminders of on campus screenings, resource launches and new books. And retweets from sheppard fairey @OBEYGIANT.

Twittering, Facebooking, separate live chats with librarians using meebo, a rotating book review interface, and a new books display feature (using cover images supplied by amazon).
There is a lot going on here, but somehow it is laid out simply, visually clear and everything I (or rather, their students) need is right at my fingertips.
Tick!
They employ a very cool interface using Credo, and use Credos concept map: a visual representation of how subjects and concepts are linked and interconnected.

Another innovative tool at ACCD's James Lemont Fogg Memorial Library: their app using Boopsie for Libraries.
With this app you can review, renew, place holds, search collections. Etc.

How about you have look at all these gems yourself. And I'll keep wandering around the physical library.
