Oscars: the Richard Koszarski Polish poster collection

Film historian Dr Richard Koszarski acquired these works through his father, a distributor of Polish films.

Kurasowa's Red Beard

This collection of 1600+ posters arrived in excellent condition - and are now mounted on Japanese paper and safe and sound in these units.

State run production and distribution house Film Polski utilised the work of acclaimed Polish graphic artists for films it promoted, and the results are quite awesome. Represented in the collection are films produced in Poland, Russia, France, Italy, Japan and the United States.
The aesthetic differences between these works and the corresponding promotional material of Hollywood and the west is striking. Here is the poster for the Graduate (1967). What can I say? Communism sure seems to breed great posters. And subtext.
