Oscars: Costume Design

Pre digital costume and production design are quite elaborate physical works. Fabric sample were included, and in general they were a complete portrait of a character or space. Finely crafted, water colour and pencil, very classy.

Modern designs of course have a whole other set of values, and digital work has many strengths the original handcraft can't compete with. While much of this field is now borne digital, physical material is still acquired, including a particularly wonderful new collection, Eve Stewart's unorthodox, extraordinary and Oscar-nominated designs from the Kings Speech.
