the art library crawl

I recently farewelled my superhero colleagues at the National Art School Library to give proper attention to two rascally daughters while traipsing across the globe on sabbatical with my clever husbando.

They (the a+ travelling family circus) have budgeted me a small amount of time to visit, delight in and document the joys of art school libraries wherever we touchdown. So far locations include Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, Brussels and Linz. (Am still whittling away my list of conquests, so if you are a creative who has been educated in one of these fine locales give a shout out for your institution of choice!)

Included in my bibliothèque bonanza is a quick sidebar to Minneapolis for the Art Libraries Society of North America / Visual Resources Association 2nd annual joint conference 'Building bridges in the 21st century' .

Far from an academic study, this is pure library tourism. A subject I love, and an opportunity I could not miss...
While I will be focused mainly on art school libraries, I will certainly be visiting the archives, reading rooms and libraries of diverse institutions along the way. Galleries, collectives, research labs and public libraries beware!
